Didn't you have one of those wasp flies as your avatar a while ago? These definately look tidier than your previous efforts (if memory serves )

Fantastic use of j/c, but has anyone ever seen a fish take either a bee or a wasp, and by fish I mean (wild) trout.

I've had trout take this pattern of foam Wasp on a size 10, whilst fishing for chub primarily An extremely lifelike foam wasp from Bulgaria - Shark's Wasp - The sting - Global FlyFisher.
I've also had some chub show interest, sucking at the fly - but no solid takes from them, but it will happen. So it's got promise. It's fun to tie as well.

Troutheaven - I've found wasps in a Welsh mountain-trout's stomach many times, and big ground beetles as well - a huge range of large clumsy terrestrials. I've caught wild trout on dapped bumblebees in my youth - yes - great big bumblebees! (I must add - they died in a shed - I didn't decimate the population) Also, hoverflies (thank you garden paddling pool). Yellow and black seems to drive small welsh river trout wild. So I think wasps are certainly worthy of a second look.
Thanks to Rollcast for bringing the wasp to the fore.

I'd love to see some of you guys revisit the blue damselfly. That's a fly that get's me fish all over the place - can be a real killer on the few hot bright days of summer we get here in Wales.
