Default Feathers

Found a bird carcase while out fishing the other day. It was well knackered, but the feathers looked in decent condition so, in the pocket they went.

Anyone any idea what bird they are from ?

I would say wood pigeon also, sure sign of a peregrine strike from above, plus I can see sawdust on one of the feathers.

Never used any Eddie but can't see why they shouldn't be okay.

No, not really. They're too soft, have a chalky texture and fall apart when tied in. Suppose you could use them for thorax covers on small nymphs but again there are better feathers for that too

Only pattern I know that uses wood pigeon is the old classic wet fly "The Grey Monkey" and yes they do make good wing cases, but not much good for anything else as far as I know.
