Default Visitor Left Me Some Feathers.

Was busy tying some of these for an old mate:

That last photo is a cracker jack. Can you/any one identify the type of hawk? (I assume it's a hawk.)

It's a Male Sparrow Hawk.

Young male. This could have been him last year, note the more stripped chest and he didn't catch anything either.

Lovely pics of the sparrowhawk, beautiful birds. I've had the pleasure of seeing one close up a number of times at my parents. She sits on the fence down the sideway and waits a few minutes for the birds to settle back down in the garden. If you're careful you can peek through the side door window and see her sitting a couple of feet away. When everythings settled down she flies out of the drive, round the house to pick up speed, and down next doors sideway. Then all hell breaks loose and she usually ends up somewhere in the garden with her dinner. Incredible to watch, such efficient hunters.
