some doubles tied for me over 30 years ago for the border esk by tam clegg.

That was one of the first flies that I was shown by the guy who taught me to tie flies. Jimmy tied them with an orange silk body and a brown thread rib. Depth Ray Floss, in grey, was used for the wings.
He swore by this flee on wee silver doubles.


Just seen your picture, wasnt there the first time I looked.
Thats the very boy!!!
Was the body actually DRF in apricot??????

Maharg, im sure the body was amber, the wing is in electron white, while on his red spinner paterns the wing was in horizon blue.

Will need to go and rake through some of my old spools of floss and see what I come up with.
Will tie a couple, and give them a swim in memory of Jimmy.
I remember he had a large piece of polar bear fur that I took a fancy to, but he would never let me near it
Wonder what happened to all his gear? Hope someone got it and it wasnt dumped in a skip.

Beautiful traditional flies there. Just shows what worked then really does still work now
