Default Nail Varnish

Hello All, I've been playing around with nail varnish painting the bodies some in single colours and others in say red and a black streak down the back of the hook so I could say twinned colours on the one hook as I haven't started fishing yet they are for the near future, so

Great idea Hook.
How hard and adhesive is the varnish? Could end up with just a bare hook with thorax/head and wing.

Bare hook nymph! Does work.

That varnish will last about 3 false casts and it'll be off.

Hi Lads 2 coats of nail varnish from ASDA then clear over the top so I'll see what happens.

garyj I tied a fly over 30yrs ago but it's a one fish fly but it's worth carring a few when fish get picky I tried HAN and varnish some time ago on the body but this adds weight I've had fish just sip it in and they didn't know they were hooked, I was at Whitton Castle Lakes years ago when I tied it, all the guys who fished there said it was impossible to catch a fish all went and failed but I did not thanks to a Silver Hatching Buzzer.

Hook size 12 d/e
Body Silver Holographic Tinsel
Thorax Cover White Duck or other
Thorax Peacock Herl
Hackle Black Cock

The whole idea is for the the holo to twinkle in the day light and it makes fish see a changing colour.

No it will not if it is done properly
Couple layers of nail varnish with enough time between each layer to dry out ...
Nice flies mr Hook

I'm liking these two best, Robbie. Can't go wrong with a bit of black and red

Robbie,
You go and show them fish what for! I have no doubt you can catch fish with those and if they scratch up your paint job, well a touch up is cheap and easy.

I have landed 30 to 40# red fish (drum) on nothing but a gold hook, landed nice trout on nothing but a weeee hook and a bit of black or cream thread... anything is possible.
Now go have some fun
