Pimp my Ace

Heard that the the Ace of Spades was nobbling a few up the road... as most old patterns tend to when somebody bothers to fish them It made me realise though, that I've never had one tied to my leader! A pal asked me to knock a couple of the standard version up for him, and when I'd done, I 'pimped' a couple for myself. Probably been done thousand times before, but this is the first idea that came into my head...

Hook: B175 size 8
Tail: Black marabou and bronze mallard
Rib: Silver wire
Body: Black and silver straggle (medium)
Body Hackle: Black hen
Underwing: Black marabou
Overwing: Bronze mallard
Cheeks: JC splits.

Nice work mate. I can see the similarities to the originals in both, so I'm going to throw you a curved ball now, see what you come with OK? When I was a young laddy, my father gave me a fly which used to catch me loads of fish on Traws and Brenig. Do you think you can give it a modern tweak? The fly in question was. . . .a baby doll. Seriously. Now there's a challenge.

Wouldn't want to mate... it's gay Seriously though... it's gay. No, seriously... it's gay Seriously now, I don't think there's much if any scope for pimping the Doll to be honest. I think the Doll scores well because of its pared-down simplicty, and to add anything to try and pimp it up would be going in the wrong direction if you get my drift? Some things are best left well alone.
