Default Quick id please

Guy next to me was caning some fish. He was fishing a fly that had a body of 3or 4 white beads and a bushy white marabou tail (fished under a bung). He also had a version in yellow.

He didn't know the name of it, so I was wondering if it had one, or is it a sort of beaded bloodworm variant.

Just curious. Don't know if I would ever have the confidence to stick one on

The yellow one sounds like a 'Woz Buzzer'.

I remember Nick Halstead showed a sub-bung pattern in one of the mags called a "Whattheheck" that was a pink/flouro yellow 'buzzer' with a Marabou tail and a single tungsten bead. He reckoned the heavy bead was important because it triggered a pellet feeding response in fresh stockies as it plopped into the water. I've never seen a white-beaded one but it sounds like a similar principle. Let's christen it "The Purist" because white is the colour of purity.

In a recent TF mag he also featured a white bodied version he called the "Plumbers Mate" after the PTFE tape he used to make a white body.
Tied up a cpl, makes a nice fly and the PTFE makes a quick bulky body - haven't fooled any fish with them yet though.....

I would think so Neil, if I've any chartreuse thread left after tying a couple of dozen up for others (you know who you are) next time I sit at my desk I'll try a few. It's quite strange though as 99% of all fish taken on these flies have been caught static or swinging round in a slight ripple under a egg yarn indicator only 1% of fish taken were on the retrieve as you would normally fish a marabou tailed flea...

To be honest Woz ive only ever fished them under a bung or like you say nymph style swinging around in a breeze so i don't have a comparison to make. The only other thing is mine are tied with floss and like yours are covered in epoxy/sally's,but they have a chartreuse bead head ( or tungsten ) rather than a gold head.Deadly on there day mate

They were similar to Woz's but had 3 or 4 beads down the shank. We were fishing the same area, and I suppose that there were a pod of rainbows hanging around. I tried a mini cat's under the bung (just happened to find one on the platform, that somebody must have left ) and lost a fish. No more interest so I tried an OkayDokay and had one pull. Meantime, he had fish after fish including a 7lber.
I went elsewhere but came back later and had a couple of fish and a few pulls on an olive apps. which made me wonder if they had anything to do with bloodworms.

Like the trout pellet idea.

Thanks guys. Still don't have a name but maybe it doesn't have one.
