Congratualtions, I'm hoping to do the same thing this year (started tying end of 2010).

I am not surprised you caught on your fly, has all the right combinations with a good body, tail, and the palmered hackle, well done.

That fish you will remember all your life, Fish4all. And I suspect you'll keep on using that fly as well. Well done!

Thanks guys. The fish was only about 8 onzes but got a great deal of pleasure having caught it on my own fly (fish realeased) only been tying since xmas but as you say you never seem to have enough stuff. Glad you thought fly was a go attempt, hope to get better over the years but dont think I will ever match some of the artist on hear.

"By the inch, it's a synch" " By the yard, it's damn hard" & " By the mile, it's..." take it in easy stages, perfect 1 style of fly at a time, on a size 10, then a 12 & then a 14 before you go onto the next pattern. It's by far the best way if you're teaching yourself.

If you can join a branch of the f.d.g NEWS & VIEWS then you'll learn a lot quicker & from people who've found different ways of getting to the same result.
