Default The Man From Delmonte

Here's that concoction hastily cobbled together just for the sake of using my new patch of orange deer hair !

As you know by now,I'm pants at naming flies,so why break the habit of a lifetime. Here's 'The Man From Delmonte'

Click the image to open in full size.

Thread - Whatever. I used UTC White 140 Den to survive the deer hair bit!
Tag - Medium Pearl holo mylar
Rib - Fine Pearl holo mylar
Body - 20% of each - Black, orange and red seals fur or sub,Gold Ice dub,Rusty brown ice dub.
Hackle - Badger - tied in behind deer
Head - Orange deer hair
Hook - 12 or 14 B175 or similar

I specified 12 or 14 hook only because I had a particular way of fishing it in mind (floating line, ginked up,slow retrieve/twitch etc) and wanted it to be small enough and fished slowly enough to bring about a feeding response from the fish but also flash enough to provoke an agressive response ...if that makes sense?) I suppose you could go to either extreme 18 or 8 depending on conditions etc.

The man from delmonte sounds a fine name for a fine looking fly.
If that doesn't catch I'll eat my socks.

Rather you than me, Dennis!

Scratch,

that is a nice looking surface worker, should work well in conjunction with a fire buzzer below it.

Shame they are on black, drab flies at Stocks at present Scratch, isn't it

Super fly though, you'll have to let me have some for the dry lines event.
