Default Uni Floss advice please

Hi i wanted to ask some advice when finishing of the end knot using uni floss. I am currently using it for buzzers (please advice othe rmaterial if better?). However being thicker than normal thread when doing the whipping knot the floss seems to mass up when it loses it's tension ending up in a bigger knot (not as neat finish) as i woud like
Advice please thanks

with it being floss I would think that you would be better of binding it down with thread at the end and then whip finishing.

as dabhoy says is a good way to tie off. Must admit i like to keep my buzzers slim so use utc thread or flexifloss direct onto the hook with varnish over

hope this helps Nick

Question where to start the thread?

HI thanks for your advice. i have actually finished one with the thread as the floss went a bit pete tong. Where would you recommend started the thread? using the uni floss builds the buzzer body very quickly and easily where as thread takes a lot longer. I weas thinking if i started it around the thorax i could then tie the floss in easier? would this work? thanks

Yes start using the thread at the thorax this will bind the floss down well as it is slippy stuff.
To help build the thorax tie in the floss towards the eye and then take the floss back over this and wrap over with thread again away from the eye.

There is a neat little trick to tying floss bodied buzzers; takes some practice but its quick and fun way to tie. You need two bobbins (one with floss and another with rather thick black thread, such as UNI 6/0).

Attach the floss in the middle of future thorax area and use it to attach the black thread. Still tying with your floss wind the body to hook bend, leave the black thread hanging and wind the floss back to thorax; whip finish. The whip finish will be bulky, but its actually a good thing - buzzers are supposed to have a pronounced thorax. Then use the black thread as ribbing over the abdomen and use it to form a neat thorax. Whip finish at the head and lacquer over.

This is what I had in mind; the fish like it
