Default Lakeland Flytying Order

Last week I ordered from Lakeland Tying, amongst other things, Wapsi UTC 70 Olive thread but as they were out of stock they could not supply it so they included a complimentary spool of UNI 8/0 as compensation for the lack thereof.

This level of customer service encourages return orders from customers and deserves acknowledgement.

Nice one Lakeland! Expect more orders in the future.

He doesn't do back-order, does he?

I'll second your comments on efficient service though. And also prompt. Huge range too.

Can't fault Lakeland for their service and the quality of their materials, but.... Everything is always out of stock!
I emailed Nigel about it several weeks ago and he replied telling me he had a big order due, but I haven't seen any improvement yet.

Items may be out of stock but at least you know they are - the Lakeland web site shows you how many of each item are in stock.

I do have a deal of sympathy for internet traders and I think that we have an unreal expectation that everything will be in stock all the time - even Tescos can't manage that. It must be particularly difficult for fly tying material retailers when you consider the huge range of low value items that they must stock to keep us happy!

With all respect to Scotfly ...

I help Nigel out at the various Game fairs around the country (I am NOT a paid employee - I am a customer who enjoys all things fly tying and don't get paid to help - other than being fed and watered!)

I know from working at the Scottish Game Fair two weeks ago that Nigel currently has over 43,000 items in stock - so Scotfly, that is not quite "everything out of stock"!

Popular items - and popular colours of certain items - always sell out first but one cannot just "top up" with most suppliers - a major order has to be placed so there will always be certain items and colours or sizes of items out of stock.

At least the Lakeland website is stock controlled - you can instantly see as to whether items are in stock - even if you prefer to order over the phone or by mail order, you can check first by looking at the Lakeland website ...

Kind regards

Phil.

OK,I should have said everything I want. For the past 6 months or so I have been unable to order various Tiemco hooks, capes and dubbing. I'm not knocking Lakeland, their stock is huge and as I said the quality is good too........but...

With all respect to Spidersplus & the others
I have to concur with Scotflys observations
I too have noticed this trend of late with Lakeland to "be out of stock"
It's all very well having 43.000 items in stock when the one you are looking for is "out of stock. It's not just the odd thing but a fair few & not hard to sell items but the popular things. Their pages were peppered with the "out of stock" last time I looked. Internet buyers may well be a fickle bunch but they after all are the customers & sellers should not forget that, let them down & they will go elsewhere possibly never to return.
Lakeland by all accounts have a reputation for good quality & service but it is no point having a Rolls Royce if you cannot get any spares if you see where I am coming from. Just thought I would mention it.

I ordered a whole load of stuff from Lakeland last week and it all arrived promptly.
I think it was fantastic that the web site showed me what was not currently in stock, therefore i did not place an order for it and find myself dissapointed when a partially complete order arrived in the post.

Unlike my order from John Norris placed on the same day which still has not arrived !!! Also i received a call two days after my order was placed to inform me that half the stuff i had ordered was not in stock.

Just to add to that i also placed a small order with sportfish last week which arrived (promptly) but with an item missing. I called them up to complain and they apologised and posted out a replacement same day. Very good custiomer service.
