Default A K Best - Green Drake

Just back from Stockholm and have unpacked me toys and thought I'd share this one with you.

Met up briefly with AK at the Swedish Fly Fair on Thursday. I was under the impression that he would only be there for the weekend.
Managed to negotiate a price with him on this fly in and amongst the laughter emanating from trying to convert dollars into euros and then into Krona via Sterling. I think we both confused each other superbly. Amongst the giggles he managed to tell me that this was his favourite way of tying The Green Drake and although the natural has a much longer wing it is effortless to cast with this length also the tail he tyes short as for him it sits in the water easier (obvious US expression). Now AK is a fairly prolific tyer but he doesn't seem to get this way that often, so me being me and that is sort of pretty short of shy remembered that Coch Y Bondhu were displaying and selling books around the corner. So off I trotted and found a first "ed" by AK and managed to get him to sign that too. By this time I think I might have been getting close to outstaying my welcome. But Hell you only pass this way once!

Good on you Loopy. That was quick thinking about the book and worth the effort.

Some serious Stockholm Swedish blonde tottie for you Loops, I suspect you would suffer more than bruised shins.

Taken on my last golfing visit.

Thanks for sharing Loopy, I'm quite envious. What was A.K. Best like; he certainly comes over as an all round good guy in the Trout Bum book series.

I'll be getting the thread Not Appropriate if I comment on the that photo!

But what a grip!

In answer to your question it would be quite wrong of me to make any sweeping statements vause I was only with teh guy for a short while. But he gave me the impression that he was a man's man and liked a giggle. At his age to do one of those shows for four days running dealing with people like me you have to take your hat off.

More pics please.
