Default Mc Murray ant. This is a take I've not seen before.

McMurray Ant- by Charlie Dickson | Hatches Fly Tying Magazine

Anyone know of another pattern that uses actual wood as an ingredient?

Default It was the odd shape of the fly that caught my attention ...

That took me to Google to see if there was a 'step-by-step.' Bass flies (Large/Small Mouth) 'poppers' made with Balsa I've seen on many occasions (actually fish with them), but a BW bodied fly aimed at trout was a new one to me.

Kind of a cool idea, hell will freeze over before those Puppies sink.

Fred ,
i actually had a half dozen of the original which I imported and they worked rather well .
They were then superseded by some very cute and expensive foam cylinders marketed by Orvis i think over here ,that was in the pre Orvis UK being more clothing than fishing days ,still got a few of those ants tucked away ,wish i had saved at least one of the original balsa ones for posterity !
