Scratch has a spectacular aura aboutScratch has a spectacular aura about
Default 'Machair' Claret Dabbler

Loosely based on John Kennedy's 'Machair Claret'. I subbed the original JC tail for varnished French Partridge many years before I took the plunge and started forking out for real JC, and stuck with it, but now I don't even bother to varnish the FP. I still use my own version of Kennedy's fly on a regular basis, but thought it was about time I gave it the deadly dabbler profile. One for poor light.

Hook: B175 size 12 or 10
Tail: French Partridge
Rib: Oval gold or silver (silver in original)
Body: Seals fur mix - Darkest brown, Black claret, Claret.
Body Hackle: Claret hen
Shoulder Hackle: Black hen
Cloak: Bronze mallard dyed 'Machair Claret' (Artifly)
Cheeks: JC splits
Thread: Black

Nice wrapping rob, fp tail is a new one for me, i have seen a similar tying with a gp tippet and crest for a tail, that pattern works well early may on our local loughs
