Default Colour

I have seen some terrific flies on here over the last few years. There also seems to be a bit of interest in dying materials as well and I thought this might help?
What strikes me the most is the great use of colour in many of the patterns.
Unfortunately I don't really have an artistic eye for that type of thing. I have been trying to educate myself. to this end I have been attempting to blend some seals fur and combine them with hackles etc that I have or have recently bought.
Not really sure where to take this, but I thought I would throw this into the mix and see what we came come up with for great colours.

First of all a colour wheel

Tips for choosing colour
1) Any colours near to each other (within any third of the wheel) will always work together to create a harmonious colour scheme.

2) any two colours which are opposite each other will look good together and make a bold statement

3) any three colours which are equally spaced on the colour wheel work together to make an exciting scheme.

See what you can come up with.

That's very interesting, Graham and very helpful too. How many times didn't we dream up colour patterns without tying them? This wheel actually helps visualising your dream fly. Personally like the blue/orange and purple/green/orange combo's. Daring but indeed exciting.

Thanks,
Johan

Maharg

Thankyou very much for posting the colour wheel.

Before I could reply to your question SWMBO saw it and now wants the Lounge redecorated.

Cheers

Harry
