I have used a similar pattern at my local Loch Hillend in the past with success. Good throughout the summer months when the fish are in the upper layers.

Beautiful fly Jock,

This will find its way into my salmon box before the runs start, would you mind to post the exact recipe for the tie please? I can wing it based on the photo but rather have the real skinny on the fly.

cheers.. did you use teal instead?
i dont like them with grey mallard it just dont look right to me..
the fish probably dont give one, but you know how it is

Hook. Kamazan size 10
Thread. Black Uni 8/0
Tail. Pheasant Tail fibres.
Body. Olive straggle Fritz
Body Hackle. Olive cock Hackle
Rib. silver Tinsel
Collar Hackle. Hot Orange Cock Hackle
Head Hackle. Wigeon.
