Default Teal blue matuka

Somewhat of a cross between a seatrout fly and a lure (I think) just used 2 teal blue hackles a smidging of bronze mallard some silver tinsel and fine silver oval tinsel.
(oh and lots of swearing).

Very nice, looks the biz for tidal water! A touch of orange in the 'throat' area would be a nice tweak.

Nice and neat Mark. That would definitely take a few sea trout.

Thanks mancfly and stuart, yes I thought it could have done with something just a little extra to create a bit more interest and orange seems a good colour to add there, thanks for the tip.

I like that myself.
I would prefer a Red throat and I agree with Scratch, it is definitely screaming out for a couple of JC eyes.
With those couple of tweeks I think you'll be on to a real winner.

Thanks rob and salmoman, you know I'm not lyeing when I say this but JC was crying out to me when I was making this, I'll have to make another one and add the jc and maybe some throat hackle colour. Thanks again for the good advice.

I've rehashed the original version by adding a brighter throat and keeping the bronze mallard on top basically as just a wing (possibly a bit too much) and ofcourse the JC which all makes for a better looking fly and more importantly a bit more fishier for the seatrouts taste. I think I might tie one with a longer throat next time to give it more balance maybe a very bright orange.

Nice looking fly Mark would be interesting to see how it goes with the sea trout.
A green ( thats silver to you ) or red throat would look good.

Thanks dabhoy, silver, I mean green throat, hadn't thought of that colour so I'm assuming you have good reason to suggest it, possibly a bright lime green perhaps,,,,erm
