Default Hook Help Please

Having had a couple of lessons I'm now ready to start tying, but need some help on hook selection. I've decided on Kamasan but have no idea which of their hooks I need for which type of fly!

Is there a table which gives this info or can anyone out there help?

I intend starting off with some lure patterns but will focus on dries once I gain experience and the weather improves.

I fish a stillwater with Rainbow, Blue, Brown, and Brook trout size ranging from 2lb to 8lb.

Thanks

Derek

I'm not sure if there are any tables or anything like that but hooks i would recommend are Kamasan B830 for lures, B175 are a really good hook for wets/nymphs, B100/B110 are good for buzzers, and for dries I use B170 but there are probably better hooks I'm not really sure.

Someone else will probably be able to help you a lot more than I can but those are the hooks I use most and find they work well.

I agree with Flyfisher17, the selection he pointed you to is as good as any. If you watch the Davie McPhail videos on YouTube he usually states the hook he is using. Other members have also created good videos

Default Hooks

Try "Allen Fly Fishing" website. They do hooks very similar to Kamasan and Tiemco, are priced reasonably and will ship hooks all over the world postage FREE! I believe they also give a free fly box for every $25.00(£17.50 approx.)

Thanks for the ideas so far. I'm already onto the purchase of some hooks.

One other thing........any thoughts on hook sizes for each of lures, wets/nymphs, buzzers, and dries?

Thanks again.
