For some strange reason, best unknown to myself, when the new season looms large on the horizon I always seem to have a wee tinker with a black and green mini-lure type thingy. Just doesn't seem right to start the season without a 'new' one.
Anyway, here's the one I've fettled for this year. Oh, one more thing... don't photograph marabou based flies outdoors, in a stiff breeze... unless you like results like this
Hook: Black Nickel B175 Equiv size 8,
10 or 12
Tail: Marabou mix - Chartreuse, 'Citrus Burst' (Dave Downie), Flou Green, Black
Rib: Black wire
Body: Yellow Mirage
Body Hackle: Black hen
Wing: As tail
Cheeks: JC splits
Front Hackle: 'Yellow Charteuse' variant hen
Thread: Black

Also, having recently acquired a couple of new olive shades of marabou, I gave my Rootbeer Mini-lure a little tweak too...
Last years model (below) had a seals fur body, and 2 marabou shades...
I'll be knocking plenty more of last years up, as it accounted for more than it's fair share of fish on a good few venues too. I just thought I'd see how it got on using the rootbeer for the body, and less in the wing....
