Default Some flies useing jay feathers

Experimenting with some jay feathers, these are a bit on the colourful side and could probably do with damping down a bit but as long as you wear your sunglasses you'll be ok.

Not to sure about the 2nd one Mark but the others will be just fine.
I always feel that less is more with blue jay but its probably more down to personal taste.

Thanks dabhoy, they're all wild cards so to speak, the second one was an experiment useing dyed green goose feathers but it doesn't really do it for me either si it won't be making a second appearance.

Thanks stuart, maybe you could do your magic stuff and make it look even better,

Nice flees there. Especially like the bumble type chappy, Blue Jay seems to work so well on them .

Some stunning flies there, in fact all of the palmer's.

There maybe some mileage in the winged wet, but as you're now ditching it.... Jay always looks better when it's wound rather than bunched as the fibres splay out far more naturally., So unless you're doing very small wet's, then that's the way to go.

I'll go along with that, maybe one turn too much for my personal taste. Nice tyings all the same. If you'd have used something like hen pheasant secondary on #2 you'd have had yourself a good wee sedge pattern. Nice tented wings on that one.

Iust got in from work and checked this thread expecting to get ripped to bits but surprise all quite positive feedback and some good pointers. I know I used more than a splash of jay and thats really all it takes as its such an intense feather. Thanks alot and thanks stuart for titillating one of the pics.
