Well, back to the drawingboard is never a bad thing.. I think the way it sits in the surface is most important, i tried to fumble around with a different outline by using CDC as hackle (but then it is not a fast water fly) and caught loads on it.. But when i switched to a regular klink i also caught loads

when the regular wasn't working nor did the CDC's

.
The strange thing about the klink is it seems to work when it actually shouldn't. I remember fishing the Glomma five years ago in late september well from the 11th till the end. There were just tiny needle flies on the surface and the grayling feasted on them between one and 3 o clock.. And between those tiny flies the big klink did extremely well, i actually used it the first time in combination with a small stonefly imitation just to see if the drifts i made were in order. Each and every drift BANG klink got hit, that same year i was there in the end of juli too and guess what the klink was not producing.. Instead small ants and Beatis Rohdani where the flies to use

, at night there were big caddis flying about, now whats that about..
