Default Cormorant X Wets!!

A few cormorants i came up with as i had the idea of turning successful wet fly patterns into cormorants for rainbows. Both the peter ross and teal-bou & silver have taken a lot of fish for me last season. Hope you like.

Nice flies, Snatcher27, but don't approach Fulling Mill just yet. The 'Peter Ross' Cormorant is pretty much a standard now, along with a few other classic wets that have had the Cormorant treatment.
Personally I'd call yours 'Marabou winged wets'. They're only one step away from the given wet fly - the wing, but two steps away from a Cormorant - tail and hackle... which Cormorants don't have.

As scratch says they have been about for years even before I showed you them, someone gave me them to try and that was years before I showed you how to tie flys kid.

I do believe the original cormorants did in fact have a tail, though you are indeed correct about the hackle.

well all in all they fish great and are a good variant to have in your box. The idea was to keep them as close to a traditional wet fly as possible but tweak them slightly. Wilkie if i tie them on a 4/0 and make the wings from E.P fibre and bug bond some dome eyes on then yeah they might catch pike lol and aye your right mate if it wasn't for you showing some stuff i wouldn't be at the level im at now. Not long till my 10wt gear will be here!!!
