Post djk you probably won't believe

i caught 5 pike on pheasant nymph beadhead over 3 days they must take natural food . a guy 50 yards down river said it must be movement of fly like a lure i think he was mardy as he caught nothing a slow figure of 8 retrieve did it plus i got 1 perch 1 roach tells me natural food works what do you guys think

Aye,

The wee'uns eat quite a lot of invertebrates rather than adopting a purely piscivorous approach to life. Caddis larvae are especially popular so your nymph may well have been taken for one of those.

When fishing for them deliberately though I prefer to give them a 'quarter pounder' of EP rather than a bite-size snack of pheasant tail but you've got me wondering if there may ever be a bit of merit in a trundeled caddis imitation?

I have caught them on buzzers before,and a friend of mine took a 20lb + fish on the Lake of Menteith with a size10 black buzzer.

I had one from the lake on a bloodworm,not big about 6lb,cracking scrap

had one over 10 pounds from chew on a size 10 diawl bach with no flash in it
