Nice flies number 2 prob has the edge on the top one, whats the hackle on the top one

Cheers roll cast. Hackle on the top one is black hen.

Must be the photo but does there appear to be blue bits in among the black hen then

I think that might be because it's natural black, not dyed, which gives it a slightly iridescent sheen, as opposed to the hard black of a dyed feather.

Nice flies Stuart - interested that you put the legs above the shank, any particular reason for that ?

I always wonder whether to have them "up" or "down" but tend to go for "down".

Very nice flies and photographs. A dozen of each for testing please Well done sir. Natural Black is much more better.

Thanks chaps.

Charlie, the same thing has crossed my mind in the past, we see some with the legs below and some above. If I'm honest there's no particular reason other than they are just easier to tie that way for me.
