Default Getting Jungle Cock Eyes Right

Now I've finally saved enough to buy a jungle cock cape I'm finding it rather difficult to get the eyes to line up correctly-one seems to look too far forward or too far back or just plain cock-eyed (a bit like me when I've had too many beers-ha -ha). Could someone who has mastered the technique required please either explain or show me how it's done as there has to be a much better way of doing it than hit or miss? Thanks

If you're using separate whole nails, or splitting a single nail in two, then there's no trick other than tying the first nail in place, rotating the vice slightly so that you can see both nails when you present the second.
One little trick that does at least ensure both nails are the same length, is to only partially split the nail.. open it up.. offer up to the fly... the rest is obvious.

You could try tying them in at the same time. Line them up in your fingers, back to back, and slide over the eye. Hold in position and tie in.
