Default Stripped quills using bleach - smell ?

I'm hoping to tie up some more Quill nymphs ( see the Nymph competition ! Number 51 ) and a few more JT olives with quill before i put the tying box away for the new season.

Can anyone advise if there is a detrimental effect on fishing when bleach is used to strip the quill ( the eraser isnt working well )

Ie a smell .....?

( Am sure i read somethere that fish can smell, and anglers who had nicotine on their fingers found their baits were less successful ? )

Probably sh1te but .....

Thanks

Default

Once bleached, you can dip them in bicarbonate of soda solution, and a good rinse. You can also treat them with a dilution of hair shampoo & conditioner.
Thorough rinsing is needed, obviously. Check out AK Best's books, it's all in there. Cheers, Paul.
