Default Anyone Help?

Having recently joined the forum I wonder if someone could answer a few questions I've been asking-mostly from fly tying-fishing mags, but don't seem to be getting any answers. 1. Can anyone explain or show me how to tie a "wonder" or a "wally" wing? The flies do look pretty, but how to tie them. 2. How do you "weave" either a dubbed, etc or wire body on a fly as in woven body nymphs, etc.? 3. Why do so few fly paaterns use pigeon feathers? It seems a total waste to not use the easiest obtained material. 4. Has american bison or buffalo hair ever been used in flies? I wouldn't think it would be that difficult to obtain. I'm hoping someone out there can answer some of these questions. Tight Lines, BDT- And my last question-wonder wing, wally wing and woven body flies look lovely to anglers, but What do the fish think?!

Let's start you off with the Wally Wing technique:

"Wally Wing - #253 FAOL"

And the Wonder Wing technique:

"Those Amazing Wonder Wings - FAOL"

Who knows what the fish think of these - the wonder wing is "stronger" in fishes' teeth but the Wally Wing looks so damn good!

Kind regards

Hello flytier,

I'll answer your second question :

This is just one method, I use figures of 8. Will look for a video...

Here is the one I use, funnily I use the same uniyarn, too.

Enjoy!

next question
Pigeon feather, pretty useless, cannot recall even one fly that has used the feathers in. As you say readily available but history has consigned them to the bin. If they had have been any good we would have Classics like Pigeon and Green or Pigeon and silver. They are just to flat and dull, no buzz about them like teal or mallard.

Question 4 Not heard of anything either, perhaps the guys from across the Pond might be better placed with an answer or perhaps from Poland???

I've used the wing quills for paired slips before, they work fine for that. I have a load of quills that went in my 'blae' quills bag along with jay and mallard. I've used some of the throat feathers for head hackles on bumbles, the blue/green sheen looks a bit like mellanistic pheasant.
