Default Make Quills tougher

I've just read of ready stripped quils from FlyTek. Apparently the preparation process makes them supple and robust.
I've got loads of peacock and like using quills so would love to know what sort of "process" can do this to quills.
Any ideas?

From my experience with quills the best offense is a good defense - i.e. it is a good policy not to make quills any weaker. I use thinned bleach (1 part bleach, 2 parts water) to strip them and expose the eye only for the absolutely minimal amount of time, leaving a little fluff on the quill to be stripped with my thumbnail before tying them in. When tying I wet the quill a little - a little saliva is good, wet sponge even better.

I believe fabric or hair conditioner helps with suppleness but have never got round to trying it. I use spit, which works for me.
