Default Is bad photography deterring posters

I was just wondering (I sometimes do this) that there must be an aweful lot of good fly tiers on here who tie very good flies, who are put off posting their pics because they feel that the quality of their photos doesn't seem up to standard and don't show their flies off to their fullest potential. I'm sure everyone is aware of the excellent quality of pics posted on here by such photographic wizards like ...ahherrm.....scratch who offers his great expertise on the subject in much detail in the photographic section and also his excellent photographs taken for the nymph contest and elsewhere are of excellent quality.
So this I think is the standard that most people will be comparing their efforts to (although a very high standard may I add) and alas most of us even after reading the sections on how to produce good quality photographs will still be struggling to come up with anything near what we would like to expect. This seems a shame as I think there are tiers out there who could contribute a great deal in this area and share their photos. This finally leads me to the question (thankgod for that I hear you say) of - Just out of interest how many members feel that they are in this situation and have you thought about posting your photos but didn't think they were up to it, either because you thought the fly wasn't good enough or the photo wasn't up to it or both?

cheers

mark

Mark you are probably quite right in what you are saying.
I have been working at my pictures a bit recently and have now got to the stage Im reasonably happy even if the colours maybe aren't quite right at times. All my pictures are taken indoors and I think I could do with another light to prevent shadow, a lot of people seem to take pictures outside but everytime I have time to do this its either p***in down or its getting dark.
In an ideal situation you would be able to upload from your computer instead of using the likes of photobucket.

Both for me Mark, and a bit of laziness thrown in.
I keep telling myself I must make more of an effort, my tyings are certainly no show stoppers, but I should take a few pics now and again, even if it's just to entertain people and give them a good laugh.
I have a new camera now, just a digital pocket job, but it's quite good, and with all the experts help, I should be able to produce a reasonable picture.
I will try a few today perhaps, and see what they turn out like.

My fly tying gear is out in the shed because my dad is decorating the spare room and the hall, he has my camera in his office and needs It so its only phone photos but I'm sure I can do something.

What if (just a suggestion!) we mediocre photographers would be able to send our flies to the pro's who'd photograph them for us and PM them back. In turn they would be allowed to keep the flies? Let's say one for one?

Not a bad idea lhomme, I think it would probably work better if they charged a small fee by paypal or something and you sent say 10 different flies to them and didn't expect them back, in return you get excellent looking photos of your prize flies.
