Default Tube fly advice needed

Hi

Am new to tying tubes and was hoping someone might be able to help me with a question. I recently bought a packet of small (1/2 inch) aluminium slipstream tubes. I had a notion to try and tie some small tube flys (terrible thing going into tackle shops without a clear shopping list...). So it wasn't till I got home with my packet of 1/2 inch tubes did it occur to me - how the hell does the plastic liner that holds the hook fit over the rear end securely and still have space for the body dressing? Was thinking I might use heat shrink tubing to try to get a firm hold of the tube fly body? Any advice/thoughts would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Nick
