Default Pike flies using bucktail?

I went fly fishing for pike about 2 years ago on a reservoir and caught a good sized fish on my own fly. Got caught in a snag and lost the fish and fly. Last year I threw the flies away. But this week I have got back into it and wish I didn't throw the flies away as I can't find the fly on the internet. Think it tied by someone from the Baltic but I can't be sure. I tried tying one last week but failed miserably.

Anyway.......

I have some Fulling Mill hooks and bucktaiil and need some guidance in what flies to tie.

The fly was purely made of bucktail and stick on eyes; epoxy over. The bucktail is placed on the hook and I think is tied as if your tying a muddler. I just can't remember exactly how to tie them.

Anyway, if anyone can recommend me a few patterns which are very easy to tie only with bucktail/krystal flash then please let me know

Thanks

Edit: Forgot to mention that I have two Tinsel flies which haven't caught anything yet

I was actually looking for a fly which isn't sparse. I don't really like clouser's.

I stupidly threw some flies away which proved successful once, but cannot remember for the life of me how to tie them. I tried tying one last week but failed miserably. I can't find the pattern on the internet. I know its there because that's where I 'pinched' the pattern from.

These are really easy. You make a bed of thread halfway along the hook. Tie in bucktail in layers to make the back and the bleeding gills are made by a thick dyed cock hackle. Make a long nose of thread and tie it off. (They look a bit like Tarpon flies at this stage). Cut a head out of ethafoam. An easy way is to use an apple corer to make a solid cylinder and then slice up the cylinder like a milk loaf. Take a slice and push a bodkin or darning needle through one edge making a hole at a tangent to the circle of foam. Put some glue on the nose. Push the slice over the eye of the hook through the tangential hole and position it with the bulk of the slice above the hook shank. Paint or glue on an eye on each side. These work really well in shallow water or over weedbeds. You use a sinking line and a short leader of about two to three feet long depending on the depth. Cast out. Let the line sink. When it is sunk the fly will be floating head down over the line. Make a long steady pull and stop and wait. The fly darts down to follow the sunken line. When you stop it slowly staggers its way up as it tries to float. Then you do another long steady retrieve or break up the retrieve into several short ones with a long stop after two or three of the short retrieves. The fly looks like a little fish with swim bladder and other problems. The takes are either very decisive or as you make the retrieve you get a "thick water take", which is the pike taking the fly and continuing in the same direction. Strike sideways. They are usually hooked in the scissors.

Default Bucktail Pike Flies

I was given these in the 90s whilst tying in Holland, at one of their Christmas Fly Fairs, by the late Hans De Groet. The Dutch use these for Pike in their 'dykes', I can assure you that when they are this size they do cast like a wet sock !
Hope it is of some use to you.

Nice flies. I don't mind if they're made of marabou either.

I've tied one similar to this fly in the video short pike fishing video from the forum

Popovic's 'Hollow Fleye'.

Easy to tie, strong profile without a shedload of bulk.

Brilliant link! I must try that next time I'm making some fish imitating flies.
