Peter Ross version I'm sure will catch its fair share!

The Coral version could have a neater head, but again I'm sure the trouts wont mind.

Gaz, they're good effort's considering the dabbler's are one of the most difficult flies to tie while still keeping everything in proportion and where it is supposed be.

A question, what thread are you using to tie your flies ?

A suggestion and not a criticism from someone who is hardly an expert. When I came back to tying and saw all of the artistic efforts from some of the top guys on here I tended to try and get a bit artistic myself when I should have been concentrating on basic techniques. These techniques can only be learned from tying " standard's " and following step by steps from guys like Davy Macphail, Scotfly, Stan Headly etc., etc., If nothing else you have a finished article with which to compare your final effort.

It's great to tie something that's your own creation but the satisfaction in being able to tie a perfect Black Pennel or Peter Ross for example will only lead to perfect presentation and proportion when one of these days you produce the " Busbiegaz Killer "

Apart from anything else it'll save you a fortune on tying materials.

Hello busbiegaz, When tying your flies do you tie only one for showing on the forum, you need to tie more of one then see which is the best to you, to me you seem to be in a rush to show.
If your flies were on sale in a shop do you think they would sell at this moment in time.
The lack of comments by the members on these flies should tell you they are not impressed, and it's no good dressing it up.
I really think you have what it takes to be a good tyer so tie 6 flies of one pattern then take a good look at them keep your best 3 and strip the others for retying don't waste your hooks, and by the way we all tied like you and I took photo's just like you then a guy called Scratch got hold of me told me how to take photos and I'm still learning from him.
On my own water I do not tie klinkhammers or dabblers I've never needed them , so you should find out what flies you need for your waters it may save you a lot of time and frustrations and needless tying.
I hope this has given you a better outlook or you may think I'm wrong, but in the short time I've been on this forum I have learnt so much and I thank the members for that.

Robbie
