Default Violet midge

Just tied these tonight on size 14 kamasans B525, theyr'e supposed to be a good grayling fly, wondered if anyone has had any success on them as I might make a few more.

Thread - pearsalls salmonberry
Hackle - jackdaw neck hackle
Thorax - water-rat

Violet midge

Those will work well on the Eden mark.

Very nice flies,can see me using them on the Clyde.

Thanks Hugh, yes very effective around June/July on rivers, had alot of success with them as fish seemed to take them sometimes as soon as they hit the water.

Simple, but oh so effective . I tink I would also tie them in 16 and 18 for those days whe the grayling are smutting on small black things.
