Interesting, have a link by any chance? Another UK product I've not seen the likes before. One question comes to mind and that is 'why' this hook? Beads (your own) are cheaper than chips ..... why not just thread one on?

To be honest Fred! i don't really Know what it offers above a bead, its a confidance thing! iv'e used them for a while, have done well with them in olive! i tie an olive marabou tail some synergy micro with gold body and a palmered grizzle hackle, also paint yellow eyes on tinhead with a black pupil, ian

These hooks were developed before the brass bead was in common use. They were intended to offer an alternative to gluing a lead shot behind the eye to make the infamous "Dog nobbler" flies.
Jeanette Taylor launched a range of flies tied on these as "Jeanies Tin Heads" They are made with solder which is slightly lighter than lead. I know she isn't tying them any more and believe that the hook is also discontinued.

There are various people on the interweb who explain how to make your own tinheads but I find beads much easier. That said I still occasionally use a proper Dog nobbler when I want to get the fly down very quick, usually off the dam wall at Grafham or Bewl

Hope this helps

Default Thanks Chris.

Time to go back to 'Google.'

In my 'Dotage,' I really am amazed at what I don't know, have time to 'learn/to expand/to understand'/to 'question' to, too, two ... hopefully?

"Life" is an interesting process .. from which you don't get out 'alive.' In the interim? Do the best you can and move forward, to do better; Maybe, just Maybe?, Just maybe ... make the 'place' a bet better than what you left for others to follow?

Do what you can .... you maybe 'remembered,' maybe not? But you have placed "your mark" on a slim bit of 'History.'

A "Good Thing, I think."

Every Person's call.
