Not at all, Doobrysnatcher!
I find lots of patterns (especially wets and nymphs) get better when brushed. Gives them lots of life in the current. I don't even bother to add legs to the smaller ones, just comb out the thorax dubbing is all that is needed.

Best regards,
Johan

Funnily enough I have tying a few palmers tonight which I brushed up with a toothbrush. I think a fly looks great when brushed out and I think the fish prefer them that way too. Here is an example of one of my flies that I brushed out tonight........

i think most tiers use either toothbrush/brush or a bit of velcro for scruffing up the fly mate.. works a treat

Don't know about the toothbrush guys, but when you speak of teeth...this is what i use to brush my flies :

Root Canal Files,China Root Canal Files manufacturers,suppliers-Medical equipment B2B

It might be a bit frightening to some, but they are the business! Superfine and unbreakable. Ask your dentist, he always has some

That leads me to the question of 'Do crazy people do fly tying or does fly tying make you crazy?' (I mean with all these animal skins under my bed I'm starting to get looks like I'm Hannibal Lecter
