Beautifully tied but would it not be better on the hook the other way round? That is so that on the retrieve it would be darting "backwards".

That's right. It crawls forwards but when under threat it flicks its abdomen and tail with a mighty crack and swims backwards away from the threat and with its claws held up in defence.

Nice tying fishfinger, the crayfish only swims forwards when its got the crabs.
