I believe just about anything will catch fish on its day Bert. For my tastes,Id say the colour combinations are a bit odd and mismatched though and that top one has a bit too much going on about it for me.Less is more for nymphs in my book,i like to keep things simple......but thats just me mate.As long as you like it,the chances are, it will get you a few fish.....

I dont fish very often for rainbows but will give my tupence worth any way
The 1st one I would probably lose the orange squirrel or whatever it is and think you would have a nice looking nymph.
The 2nd would probably suit a marabou tail for its lure qualities.
Just my opinion however.

I can't see the second one, looks like photo bucket's playing up.

On the first one I'd have to agree with comments above, the thorax is too heavy. If orange is a good colour then definitely give an orange thorax a try. How about tying in a few, say 8, strands of orange marabou, twist them round the tying thread and make a slimmer, yet fluffy and mobile thorax out of that? Just a thought. Twisting them round the thread might make them a bit more durable against fishy teeth.

Either that or you might want to get some orange ostrich herl.
