If you have entered the comp, or intend to vote, please read the following carefully...
All forum members are welcome to vote.
You must though, have a join date of no later than November 2010.
Competiton entrants are welcome to vote, but cannot vote for themselves!
And no tactical business either!!
We all have different criteria and different ideas on what makes a great fly. Generally speaking though, I think a good, or great fly has needs to have 'the look', (whatever that is) and appeal to both fish and angler. In terms of fish catching, the technical aspect is perhaps the least important, although the fly does need to function properly... and hold together! Fish appeal and angler appeal? Both equally important I'd say. Of course the fly has to appeal to the fish, but it needs to appeal to the angler in the first place - don't forget the confidence factor - you need to be happy with your fly and feel that it will catch you fish. Just a few thoughts there.... but it's you lot who are voting, so 'judge' them in any way you like, but perhaps paying least attention to the technical aspect - there's a wide range of experience levels on display, and it would be nice to think they're all on a relatively level playing field. If I may be so bold, I would urge you all to arrive at your favourites by asking youselves one simple question - given the appropriate scenario,
'Which flies would I most like on the end of my leader?' Simple as that.
'Judging' is perhaps the wrong word, especially for a 'fun' comp like this. The main objective was simply to get as many folk, of all levels participating and furnishing us all with some nymphy porn. I'm cock-a-hoop with both the eagerness of some of the relative novices to enter, and indeed, their creations, and the imagination and technical wizzardry from some of our 'big guns'. There's a few nice surprises from some of the quiet men of the forum too.
However we judge it, it is a competiton, albeit a fun one, with some great prizes at stake and therefore we'll need to establish a winner. So, I think it's only right and proper that we do it right and make as big a song and dance about it as possible!

This will be done by two rounds of voting....
Round 1 - 'Public Voting'
Please view all the nymphs below studiously. Admire, drool, purr, form an opinion and then select your
FOUR favourites, based on which flies you would most like on the end of your leader, or to add to your fly box.
When you have established you favourite, runner-up, third and fourth places...
post your choices here on this thread (don't pm them to me).
For example:
1st = Fly No.11
2nd = Fly No 36
3rd = Fly No. 4
4th = Fly No.27
Your first choice secures 4 points for the tyer, 2nd place secures 3 points, 3rd gets 2 points, and 4th, 1 point.
Maybe add a few comments on the reasons for your choices if you wish - not essential though.
The 'Public' voting, here on this thread will run from Tuesday 18th untill midnight Tuesday 25th Jan.
The votes will be totaled up on Wednesday 26th and a top ten eastablished, when we will move onto round two...
'Judging Panel'. More about on that HERE at the bottom of post #119.
Final results to be posted on Monday 31st Jan.
When the comp is done and dusted, all the nymphs (over 100)
will be auctioned off for Mr Trout's
Let's Tackle Cancer campaign.
Anyway, on with the flies... and the voting. Yer gonna have a right royal headache! Enjoy.
