First things first stig, get yourself
over here and have a bit of a read. Most cameras these days, even cheapos, have a macro setting. Failing that you can sit the camera a foot or so away from the fly and use the zoom to get closer.
In place of a tripod you can easily use a pile of books, mags, newspaper, brick, upturned mug rather than holding the camera by hand. Find yourself a table lamp to give you better lighting too. That'll give the camera enough light to raise the shutter speed and cure some of the blur you're getting.
As far as the fly goes, well, it's hard to tell really but the general shape looks good, the wing is usually bronze mallard rather than what looks like partridge and the body looks a bit on the heavily dressed side.
Having said that, the dabbler is a seriously adaptable style of dressing. You can dress them in many different ways to be an out and out wake fly/surface disruptor, an emerger, dead skinny and nymphy or a mini lure all by the different colour combinations and density of dressing. That's probably why you see so many on here these days, it really is a style that covers many bases. Guys like weight forward, savage take and old jock are posting good patterns regularly and should be able to help with fine tuning your approach. 'Watch and learn' as they say, polite questions usually get polite answers.
