Default Stripping peacock herl

Been tying CDC olives the last few nights, some with yellow or plain peacock herl.

Its been a mare stripping them with a soft eraser.

Will Veet or any hair removal stuff work?

Using a chemical hair remover will damage the quill Spider and weaken it. You can guarantee it will snap at that point jsut before you tie it off!!

The most effective way I have found in 30 years of tying is the good old eraser!!

An ink eraser does the job for me.

When I used to use stripped peacock quill I found an old fashioned typewriter eraser that came in a wooden tube just like a pencil was the best tool for the job. My eraser even had a nylon brush at the other end that proved very useful for dusting away all the bits to make sure I'd rubbed off all the herl before turning it over.

Are these still available? A Google search just now didn't find exactly the right thing...

I am not convinced its the way that you strip them but the peacock itself.

Some strip easily , some don't.
