Default Treating wings, skins and things.

Bit of advice please. A fellow forumite is sending me some Woodcock wings that have not been treated. What do I treat them with and how? Where do I buy the necessary treatment powder, oil, spray whatever??? Are there different treatments for different things i.e. wings, pelts, tails ect ect?

It's not to far off roadkill season around here, give it another 6 weeks and it will look like the Somme on the main road. Shame to waste it all.

Any advice most welcome-thanks.

Chris

Due to working in Pest Control i find the best way to treat wings is get a zip bag some insect powder put both in bag leave for a couple of days as this will kill of any feather mites and any thing else then just shake powder off as for skins treat hair side with dog fly spray again this will kill of flies, mites, bugs
make sure all meat is off skin then just leave to dry out loft is best place for this hope this helps and its cheap
cheers Bert

This might help.

FAQ - Processing Fly Tying Materials at Home

I have used Borax or salt to dry the wings.
