Default How are flies sent in the post?

I am thinking about purchasing some flies by mail order having always bought them at my local tackle shop and I also make my own but some are a bit to specialised for my tying skills so unfortunately I need to buy them. So how are flies usually packed for postage, are they packed in an inner small cardboard box or are they just put into those small plastic sachets and then into a small jiffy bag? If I am paying decent money for these flies I'd like them to be in decent condition by the time I get them and not scrumpled up etc. Any information will be greatly recieved. Thanks.

It probably depends on the type of flies, ie. dries etc may well come in small boxes from most suppliers whereas other types such as most lures which are flat may come in zip-top bags as they don't always need much else. The suppliers don't want you to have problems with them, so should pack them correctly otherwise you will send them back & ask for another batch. So they will loose time & money doing so as well as possibly loose your custom.

depends where you buy them from they all have different packaging ideas .. generally dries will come in a small plastic box or sturdy cardboard one, nymphs are fine in small plastic bags unless they are real imitations then i would expect them to also come in a plastic box ??

If you buy cheap flies from a supplier who gets them tied in China the box will probably be worth more than the flies.

Most crushed flies can be revived in the steam of a kettle.
