Default Hen Necks/Saddles

Will a cheap indian cape do so that I can tie the wings in patterns like this one:

Urban Gardini Vulgata

and this one?
Dry Fly Swap Page

I was thinking of buying one of these:
ARTiFLY - Indian Capes

Also, is any one doing good quality badger cock saddle capes at the moment.
It's time I had one.

They look ok to me, it depends if your not tying to sell and for your own use then quality might not be that important and they're fairly cheap so worth a try at that price I think.

It's all because of this stupid idea I had...........

A Flyfisherlady's Life

Now, is there a household alternative to Polypropene Yarn? I can tie some of his Klinks if that's the case?

I have grey in at the moment, but not pink or white...

Grey would work just fine.

Hi Polly, do a search on here before buying the feathers in the link you posted. A quick search on here of 'Artifly' will tell you he's not exactly the most speedy dispatcher of goods in the world

Hi Polly,
Made some comments on yr "foam" thread with hackle sourcing suggestion.
- Cookshill is where a lot of the top tyers go for their feathers:
Cookshill Fly Tying Materials

His Indian hen capes are only £4.50 ea and will be checked for quality. (check out the comments on the rhs of his webpage).

Consider there will be a hell of a lot of feathers on a cape - unless you are tying quite a lot of similar flies half capes or selection packs can be economic, esp for genetics.
It may be worth giving Steve a call he might make you up a pack of what you need.

Dave.

Hi Polly for your dry flies I would be inclined to go for a genetic cape rather than a chinese one a bit more money though but more consistant feathers.
