Default Bobbin holder for pearsalls silk thread

Can anyone recommend a bobbin holder for pearsalls tying silk, as being smaller they don't fit my regular bobbin holder. I know matarelli do a midge version but this is possibly expensive. Thanks alot.

I just use the usual cheap matarelli-type bobbin holder - one of the short ones - and bend the arms in to hold the narrow spools. I have two set up like this and they are always loaded with Pearsalls.

Wink

I purchased a wire & tinsel kit from Carrilon which contained 12 wires & tinsels along with a small bobbin holder which would be ideal for the smaller Pearsall bobbins it costs £8.95 which I found was good value hope this helps.

I think Sportfish sell a smaller bobbin ? I use one that I got with my original fly tying kit from Carrillon or somewhere ?

I put two spools of thread on a standard bobbin holder - works for me

Wingman,

You don't need to buy or bend holders or insert 2 bobbins ect, just do a search of the flytying shops (I think I bought mine from Glasgow Angling Centre)....you buy little plastic plugs that go in either end of your little Pearsals spool which makes it into a full sized spool which you then use in a standard bobbin holder....I use them and they work very well....only problem is I can't remember what the heck they are called !!!!!!!!!

If I find them I will post the url.

Nigel

Thanks everyone for some great leads there, I am sooooo grateful. I have heard excellent reports about the wasatch one as shown above, very cheap to buy in the states but i only found it here at one site so far and fairly expensive. Another good make is fred newton also, again a bit pricey what a skin flint). Those spacers seem a good idea also.
