Default Jig Hook emergers

Hi All

I bought this month's Total Flyfisherman to browse through over the festive period and saw in one of the articles the use of a small jig hook for a cdc emerger. It says in the article that the hook helps the fly to sit correctly in the surface for an emerger. Has anyone ever tried this technique out? I only use jig hooks for nymphing.

Jonathan
