Default Czech Nymph getting better ?

Hi Guys

Had a bash at Czech nymphs ages ago and they were pretty poor , last night had another bash came up with these.......................Im much happier with these although i think there possibly a little to thick ?

They are tied on Partridge Czech nymph hooks szie 10 which is HUGE compared to what i normally use on the river, but i understand Czech nymphs tend to be big/long/thin ?

Im tying them for a trout river (Carron ) no grayling, interested in what colours/sizes i should tie with trout in mind ?

I would not change a thing; your flies look great. And don't be afraid of larger sizes, you might even consider size 8 hooks - they look huge compared to your average BWO, but so do caddis larvae.
Olive is a optimal color for starters, especially if your river has good caddis population; tan works also fine. You can consider pink (no kidding) and orange to shock fish into action when they cannot be troubled to respond to natural colors.

Those shrimps look well worth a swim, plus your olive variant as one of the above posters suggested. This year I bought some Partridge Czech nymph hooks size 12 and agree these look massive. They would not be out of place in the butchers suspending half a pig

the last 3 (grey with olivehead) will take fish...on our river anyway. I use something identical.
dont worry about the size....do a kick sample you will be amazed at what turns up.
After viewing a few kick samples on our river I changed from 14's to 12/10 last season with a remarkable uplift in catches. I was previously fishing far too small.
