Have a butchers at yer manual and try to suss out the custom white balance setting.

Might help to try and shoot these type of arrangements from above too... to keep everything in focus.

Actually, one or two sharp and the others blurred is likely a better composition (albeit, of course, personal taste). You've just got to get the sharp ones tack sharp.

It's just a quick adjustment in Photoshop mate.... but the best way to do it is to get the white balance more or less right on the shot. Have a play with yer white balance settings... it'll pay dividends.

Fair point Steve, and as you know... I've a wee penchant for a little creative blur here and there. I was just giving Craigie another shooting option without blabbing on about D.O.F. etc.

Yep but Craigie's still getting a lot of camera shake. Just to put it in perspective, Craigie, even on a heavy tripod I notice camera shake from my mirror movement when shooting macro and so use a mirror lock function on my camera - I trip the shutter cable twice (once to move the mirror up and a second time to activate the shutter). So it's very important to get that camera locked down on something stable and to use a cable release if you have one or the timer release if you don't.

I reckon you can sort out both the shake and the white balance quite quickly. Then play around with the aperture setting to get the middle one tack sharp and the others softly out of focus for composition effect.

Just had a quick look at the EXIF for that picture. Interesting to see something that may be contributing to camera shake. The flash is forced off (as per macro on compacts?), and I suspect the light may have been a bit low, resulting in a 1/8th sec exposure time, only one stop up from the longest exposure possible for that camera. I know 1/8th of a sec sounds pretty quick, but I'm sure Steve and Rob will agree that's plenty long enough to blur a shot when hand-held. Try some more light Craigie and let the camera speed up the shutter speed, which should help eliminate the camera shake.
