Default Looking At The Flies;

I have been looking about at flies that are posted and I must ask, do you guys not tie and fish flies like these? When I lived in trout country these were very good patterns to have on the line.

Hi Jim,

They tie like that here too nowadays. I am stuck in the past I guess because the old saying when I was young was "If it isn't broke, don't fix it" so I always use the same thing I learned with.

Dont worry Ardy your flies will catch trout any time .
I am on this forum more than year now and I saw a lot of nice flies here ,but not really to much dries
I dont want that this fine british lads find me offending them or something but as i can see things they dont like dry flies much.They are more into nymphing on rivers and wet flies on lakes,and when it comes to dries on rivers they use some small or extra small flies.....

Ard,
Nice flies, do you get to fish those much up there?

Madjoni,
Good to see you, thought you where hibernating for the winter.

Last dry fly that I have been using is/was a #34 (It was meant to be a size #24 NOT #34. My apologies for that.) black gnat. I can't see that!

Hi madjoni,most of my fishing on the rivers last season was on the dry fly,early season I will fish nymphs until the march browns & ldo's start coming off & then it's onto the dries & emergers.we mostly fish nymphs for grayling in the colder months,I don't speak for the other guys on here but that is what we my mates & me tend to do,tight lines for 2011.atb Craig.

Dry flies rules
I was simply pointing about approaching to trout fishing in UK and here.I would always rather try streamer than nymph....well,after some dries ofcourse
all the best in next season Craig

Nothing wrong with fishing good old tried and tested patterns but fly tyers are always looking for the next thing as to keep tying the same flies over and over would become too repetitive for many. I would imagine that people still fish them though.

Woops! My Bad. I fat fingered that on for sure. It was meant to be a size #24 NOT #34. My apologies for that. I did buy a package of TMC in size #32 but they are just to small for me to do anything other than spay paint them.
