Default F McPhillips Traditional Irish Dubbing

hi all
I was looking at the McPhillips dubbing boxes and I decided that I like the colours. At $25+ per box (4in all) they seem very proud of the product. Does anyone use these and if so what are your thoughts? *** No bickering on this thread *** Just honest opinions... Many thanks!

i have been using them for years and they are excellent. The Golden Olive is a fantastic colour, great for the orange shrimp and the Golden Olive Bumble among others. The green and sooty olive colours are excellent to.

Hi Cax & Wee Jimmy,
Thanks for the input. I have ordered the #1 box to give it a try, think this one is mostly the Olive colours. That is nearly twice the price of what I pay for dubbing boxes, but this one has the Official Approved Irish colours

Jimmy, have you tried angora? it is the closest natural alternative I can find to seals fur and takes dye well.
Cheers guys

Bought a vice off Frankie in the summer in Enniskillen and he was weighing and filling said boxes at the time. He gave me a sample but I found it a little course, but the colours are good.

Certainly gets the thumbs up from me as well. As the story goes he closed shop for a week and burned out 3 blenders whilst trying to blend the colours. He done it all from scratch and then asked Ted Malone to second opinion the colours as traditional Irish shades.

I'm sure there are not too many would argue with that kind of endorsement

You should give Frankie a ring he might do a deal, I know at the min he has an offer of 100 kamasan hooks for £6.

That's a good deal, does he have a website?

I have been using these ever since Frankie first brought it out. I find it a great dubbing that is consistent and the colours are fantastic. There is 4 sets of 12 colours available,48 in all. I rarely use anything else and there's a good enough range of colours to tie most patterns for all the hatches. At €20 a box they are great value and individual packets can be bought for replenishing.
