Default Slandered Maggot

A very good firend of mine, who just happens to be an out-and-out coarse fisherman, claims some of my grayling flies are simply maggot imitations!

Of course, I argue my case for the slender pink 'shrimp'. But whatever they are taken for, I guarantee you they'll winkle you a few fish when conditions are cold.

I would assume he meant Sawyer's Killer Bug.
Those ones you tied are very neat indeed, Dave.

Hook: YK4G #14
Thread: 10/0 Powersilk, olive
Body: Pink floss
Ballast: 2mm and 2.5mm beads.

I have reversed the second bead so its countersinking fits the first. This allows you to add a fair bit of weight whilst keeping the body slim.

Jon, I'm away on the river for the next few days, but will see what I can knock up over Christmas.

It's just pink floss Andy. You get get a great taper by carefully flattening or spinning up the bobbin and forming a cord with the floss.

The Powersilk is wound down the body first before the floss and then wound back up in open tuns to form the rib.
